Girls' Basketball - Middle School

Thank you to everyone who came to the informational meeting on October 4th! Here is the information from the meeting.

Season details:

We will be doing a co-op with NLA for a 6th-12th grade program.  We are trying a new 6th-8th grade developmental program for 2018! The developmental program will only practice twice a week and will compete either in intrasquad scrimmages and/or a tournament at the end of the season instead of games throughout the season. Registration is NOW OPEN on LILA FeePay for the middle school girls' basketball developmental program. The season begins on October 29th so please register before then! IMPORTANT NOTE: Your child needs a current sports physical on file (good for three years) before they will be allowed to participate.

Developmental In-House Program (New in 2018) Purpose: To put all focus on fundamental skill development for beginning basketball players; to limit time and cost commitment for younger players and families.

  • • Grades: 6-8
  • • Program Length: October 29-December 14
  • • Practice: 2 days per week and 2 Saturdays
  • • Locations: 1 day/wk at LILA-HW and 1 day/wk at NLA-US. Saturdays will be at NLA, See LILA's Activity Scheduler calendar for practice dates/locations.

Try outs for 7th and 8th graders:

There will also be a 7th-12th grade MSHSL team for those looking for a more intense practice and game schedule. 7th and 8th graders have the option to try out for the high school team. With girls' basketball, the middle school season starts before the high school season. 7th and 8th graders are encouraged to start in the middle school program first and then try out for the high school season if they are interested in continuing with a more competitive experience.
