Lakes International Language Academy (LILA) is a no-tuition K-12 public charter school. We also offer a fee-based, affordable Pre-K option for 3- to 5-year-olds that serves as a great jumpstart to our full language immersion program. Just as all Minnesota public schools do, LILA welcomes students equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national or ethnic origin, or economic standing. However, you must submit an application to be considered for enrollment.
LILA limits its class sizes, depending on the grade and at the direction of the school’s board of directors. This means that not all applicants are guaranteed a seat, unfortunately. When applications exceed seats available at any grade level, Pre-K-Grade 12, LILA uses a random lottery system for enrollment. The lottery occurs on January 15th each year, based on the number of applications received by the deadline approved by the school board and according to charter school law. The application deadline is 4:00 pm on the last day of school prior to January 15th.
If you are interested in enrollment for the CURRENT, 2021-2022 school year, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
No enrollment preferences exist. Living in Forest Lake is not a preference factor, nor is attending Kinder Prep Preschool. The only exception to this rule is an applicant who has a parent/guardian that is employed by LILA or siblings currently enrolled. Applicants with enrollment preference in either of these categories MUST submit an application by 4:00 p.m. on the last school day prior to the January 15th lottery to be admitted to LILA. Their names are excluded from the random lottery. Applicants in the remaining pool will be randomly selected for enrollment by lottery, and confirmation notices and enrollment information will be sent to the families. When sections are full, a waiting list will be established by random lottery assignment.
