School Board

The Minnesota Legislature enacted legislation in 199­1 authorizing the formation of charter schools. Each charter school is governed by a publicly elected board of directors. Charter school boards are the entity that is legally charged with governing a charter school, and are ultimately responsible to its community. They govern by adopting a mission, vision, goals and policies.

School board members are elected to two-year terms except the community board member who is elected to a one-year term. Terms are staggered to ensure continuity of leadership. School constituents elect four board members in even-year elections and five board members in odd-year elections. The Executive Director and Chief Finance Officer are ex officio members of the board without voting rights. BOARD MEETINGS 
The board typically meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm with the exception of the June meetings which is held on the third Tuesday. Meetings are held in the Upper School Library Loft unless otherwise noted in the agenda. Board dates and agendas can be found in the first dropdown menu below.
