About the PTO
The overarching mission of the Lakes International Language Academy (LILA) Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is to make school a better place for children to learn. Every parent of a student at LILA Lower School and KinderCenter are welcome and eligible to become a member of the PTO. Parents work together to provide support by volunteering, fundraising for needed programs, equipment, and supplies, and through a variety of community-building activities. Joining the PTO gives parents an opportunity to meet other parents and contribute to the success of Lower School and Kinder Center.
PTO Meetings
The PTO typically holds general monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month(this can vary based on board availability and school events). Everyone involved with LILA lower school and kinder center are encouraged to attend. PTO board elections are held each April. Check the calendar on the main website landing page for the most up to date meeting times and locations.

Events and Fundraising
The PTO conducts several annual fundraising activities, each designed to support initiatives identified by parents, teachers, and school administration. Key initiatives include the Language Ambassador Program, teacher and staff support, community activities, and campus improvements. Whether you're interested in organizing an event, serving on the board, or providing assistance periodically, we welcome your involvement.
Boosterthon Fundraiser
LILA’s annual Boosterthon Fundraiser is the PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Each fall, students take part in a fun, themed fundraising experience that builds excitement and school spirit while raising funds to support our Ambassador Program, educational experiences, and other PTO-supported initiatives throughout the school year.
The fundraiser culminates in a school-wide celebration where students come together to recognize their collective efforts and celebrate their success. It’s a LILA tradition that combines fundraising, fun, and community—bringing our Dragons together in support of our school.
WINTER PLUNGE
The Forest Lake Rotary Winter Plunge is an annual charity event where participants jump into a frozen lake to raise money for local nonprofit organizations and community groups.
Each winter, LILA teachers, staff, ambassadors, and community members take the icy leap as part of this spirited community tradition.
For LILA, the plunge raises funds for projects and initiatives that benefit students. More than a fundraiser, it’s an opportunity to show up for our students, support one another, and have a little fun while making a difference.
Community members can join the plunge team and take the leap themselves, or support a participating LILA staff member with a donation and cheer them on from dry land.
Gerten's Spring Plant Sale
LILA’s annual Gerten’s Spring Plant Sale gives families and community members an opportunity to purchase a wide variety of plants while supporting the school. The sale features flowering plants, patio containers, vegetables, herbs, and greenery—making it easy to find something for gardens, patios, porches, and homes.
Proceeds from the sale support PTO-funded projects and initiatives that enhance the student experience at LILA. By purchasing plants through the sale, families can help provide resources and opportunities for students while getting a head start on their own spring gardens.
Family Fun Night
LILA’s annual Family Fun Night brings students, families, and the school community together for an evening of games, activities, food, prizes, and plenty of fun. Held at the Lower School, this family-friendly event is a favorite LILA tradition and an opportunity to make memories together outside the classroom.
Families can enjoy unlimited access to carnival games, jump houses, face painting, and other activities with a wristband. Additional tickets are available for special activities such as dunking a favorite teacher in the dunk tank, entering classroom raffle basket drawings, and purchasing food from vendors.
Family Fun Night is more than an evening of entertainment—it’s a chance to connect with other LILA families, celebrate our school community, and enjoy some Dragon-sized fun together.
Additional fundraisers include Urban Air Jump Night and a Driven Coffee Fundraiser. The PTO also organizes numerous community-building activities throughout the year such as the Fall Social, Crafts and Cookies, Movie Afternoon, Staff Conference Soup Cook-off and Teacher Appreciation.
