Transportation

LILA partners with ISD #831-Forest Lake Area Schools (FLAS) for bus transportation services.

  • Lower School and Upper School students living within Forest Lake school district boundaries are eligible for busing.
  • Kinder Prep Preschool students are not eligible for busing, and must be transported to and from school each day by parents/guardians.
  • Transportation must be provided by families for students living outside of ISD #831-FLAS boundaries.

Bus routes are established by the FLAS Transportation Department. If your child is riding the bus, you will receive a mailing approximately one week before school starts each fall showing your bus stop location and bus number. Buses typically pick up your child at the end of your driveway or at a nearby location determined by the FLAS Transportation Department.

While we strongly encourage families to utilize busing services whenever possible, curbside drop-off and pick-up are an option. More information on busing, or the curbside drop-off and pick-up option, can be found in the individual school tabs below.

Students in PreK through Grade 5 are released from their classroom by Silent Dismissal, based on the dismissal information from their parents/guardians. This is a safe and secure internal system that the school uses at dismissal time. Parents/guardians have the ability to make a change from the bus to pick up, or pick up to bus. All other groups including Explorer Club and after-school activities will be managed by the Explorer Club office and the Transportation Coordinator. Additional information and instructions to set up your family account can be found in the Silent Dismissal tab below.
