Weather-Related Closings & Delayed Starts

Because bus service for the majority of LILA students is provided by the Forest Lake Area School District (ISD #831), our schools close when Forest Lake closes.

NOTIFICATIONS

• A weather-related school closing or delayed start announcement for the Forest Lake Area School District also applies to LILA. Cancellations usually occur no later than 5:30 a.m.
• LILA will send out an email and text via School Messenger, post to Facebook and Instagram, and add a page pop to the website home page.

KINDER PREP & LOWER SCHOOL

• Kinder Prep Preschool and Lower School students will have a 'snow day.'
• Little Explorers and Explorer Club will be closed. 
• School facilities will not be open for community rentals. 
• After-school or evening activities, competitions, or events may or may not take place. Each is at
  the discretion of LILA Administration and/or the Activities Director. 

UPPER SCHOOL 

• Upper School students will have an E-Learning Day. 
• School facilities will not be open for community rentals. 
• After-school or evening activities, competitions, or events may or may not take place. Each is at
  the discretion of LILA Administration and/or the Activities Director. 

If the start of school is delayed two hours, the following usually occurs:

• School will start exactly two hours later than usual.

• Buses will run two hours later than usual.

Staff should report as close as possible to their usual starting time. We recommend
families monitor the LILA website, social media, or KARE 11 for updates and changes. 

The weather at your home in the morning may be different than the weather in ISD #831 communities. If your home district closes, but LILA remains open, and you determine that it is not safe for your family to travel to and from school, please email or call the school before 8:00 a.m. to alert us and your student will be excused.
