Welcome from the Principal

Dear Students and Families,
 
Whether you’re a returning family, or brand new to our Upper School community, I want to take this opportunity to offer a warm welcome, and to thank you for choosing LILA.  
 
We take great pride in being a fully authorized International Baccalaureate World School, offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students in grades 6-10, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for students in grades 11-12. As IB educators, we are committed to providing a world-class education that prepares our students for success in school and beyond. Our goal is to provide a nurturing, supportive, and empowering learning environment that prepares our students to be active life-long learners who participate in a global society. 
 
The LILA community as a whole is committed to the same goals, Pre-K through Grade 12. We accomplish this by helping our students learn how to learn, connecting learning to “real life” applications, and encouraging critical thinking, while at the same time helping ALL students learn a second, or even a third, language.
 
Providing a well-rounded education is a priority. That is why we are so passionate about creating opportunities for students to learn, grow, and develop a sense of belonging not only within the academic day, but beyond the school day as well. Students will find an array of leadership, enrichment, athletic, arts, clubs, and activities at their fingertips. Check out our Arts, Activities and Athletics page for more information. We even have an active parent Booster Club that supports our mission and programming – they are always looking for new members!

I am not only honored to be the principal of Upper School, but part of a larger school district community that is fully committed to the mission of preparing tomorrow’s critical thinkers and global citizens through language acquisition and inquiry-driven study.
